RAM measures up
Gas analysis solutions manufacturer Servomex selects RAM due to its excellent support record
Servomex Group Ltd, the manufacturer of specialist gas analysis instrumentation and systems, has selected RAM’s Best-of-Breed solution to manage its fixed assets following the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system.
The East Sussex based company, which employs over 250 staff worldwide, has fifty years experience supplying gas analysers and sampling systems to the world's leading process and engineering companies. It is part of the Spectris plc group and has offices in Europe, USA, China and Taiwan.
For some time, the finance department at Servomex had to make do with an antiquated fixed asset system that came as part of its general ledger application. With a lack of flexibility and an ageing design, manipulating data was not an easy process. When the whole finance system was up for review it was a good time to evaluate modern fixed asset management solutions.
“The new ERP system has made a huge difference to our company,” explained Chris Boden, Finance Manager at Servomex. “When it came to fixed assets, we preferred the option of a specialist supplier - a company that could provide us with a more tailor-made service. As I had used the RAM system with great success in the past at a previous company, it was a natural decision to review its capabilities once again. In order to complete a full evaluation against our criteria, we also called in a second supplier.”
“It will be far easier to record detailed asset information and present it in user-friendly, customised reports.”
“There were several reasons why we selected RAM's system,” explained Boden. “Firstly, we preferred the screen layout and design of the system. Secondly, from my previous experience, I had full confidence in the integrity of the system and its ability to successfully manage all accounting events such as revaluations and transfers. Thirdly, I know RAM has a dedicated helpdesk team, which will provide guidance and technical support when we need it. Finally, it had the most impressive selection of manufacturing clients that were using the same ERP supplier.”
Servomex is using the RAM system to manage its asset register which consists mostly of IT kit and electronic control equipment. It has the option to roll it out to other sites in Europe in the future.
“There will be a major difference in the way asset data is managed,” said Boden. “It will be far easier to record detailed asset information and present it in user-friendly, customised reports. The ability to access this information easily will make a huge difference when it comes to management reporting.”
