Leek college manages assets in new teaching blockReal Asset Management selected to track new assets Julia Leonard, Vice Principal of Leek College, commented, “The Series4000 software will be imperative in the impending opening of our new teaching block. We have purchased a lot of new equipment and furnishings for the new building and it is crucial that we are able to account for each and every new and existing asset. The software will also play an important role in locating equipment so we can track exactly where each asset is located, not only for our own management but also for essential insurance purposes.” Previously the college was using a module of its existing financial system to account for and monitor all its assets. However, Leek College recognised the need for a new specialist system which would enable it to perform more practical tracking and monitoring of physical assets. This was of particular importance due to the large number of assets being transferred into the new teaching block. Inventory4000, one element of the Series4000 suite, includes the facility to store detailed information about inventory items and their associated stock, along with recording transfer and disposal events, technical inspections and maintenance plans both in the past and for the future. User defined analysis codes and multiple description lines enable extensive, detailed information to be saved against each record. Configurable data fields and monetary values allow extra information to be recorded against both inventory and stock, such as purchase date, warranty expiry date, purchase cost and insurance value. The software also provides an accurate cost of ownership analysis. Bar codes are used to accurately track assets using the Track4000 module. Julia Leonard continued, “I was aware that RAM had worked with other colleges in the area and that the Series4000 had helped them immensely. The software from RAM will enable us to increase the security of our assets, which is obviously of utmost importance. We are also able to add more information relevant to individual assets which we couldn’t previously do. All users now have access to common, up-to-date data and are able to locate each asset quickly, saving a great deal of time.” |
