RAM’s Maintenance4000 software to improve repetitive and reactive repairs and ensure Health and Safety compliance for Nugent Care

Leading North West charitable organisation, Nugent Care, is to manage repetitive repairs and reactive maintenance with Maintenance4000 software from Real Asset Management. This will improve efficiency in maintaining all its properties, and ensure continuing compliance with Health and Safety requirements across the organisation’s 40 sites.

Based in Merseyside, Nugent Care has been offering residential care and a wide range of community-based support projects for over 100 years. Principal Property Services Officer, Paul Gilfoyle, manages all maintenance issues across the organisation’s 40 current sites, with this number set to rise with future expansion. Facilities offered by Nugent Care include residential care homes, schools, supported domestic premises and a secure unit. Gilfoyle will now use Maintenance4000 to manage all property maintenance across Nugent’s entire network of buildings, introducing a centralised IT maintenance system for the first time within the organisation.

All properties managed by Nugent Care must meet stringent Health and Safety guidelines while working within a strict budget. Gilfoyle is responsible for all maintenance work, whether routine or reactive, of all properties. He decided Maintenance4000 should replace the historical and unreliable maintenance management system for reasons of efficiency, accuracy and savings in time and cost. He explains, “Until now, any maintenance work orders have been made by paper or verbally so the opportunity for error as the organisation grew in scale became too great to be practical. Once Maintenance4000 is fully installed and implemented, all work orders will be automated. This will mean far greater accuracy and afford me and my team total control over issues as they arise.”

The reporting feature of Maintenance4000 is something that Gilfoyle is particularly looking forward to seeing in place, once the system is fully up and running. He continues, “Once the reports are active, I can use those as a really useful management tool; helping us with budgeting, cost projection and estimations.”

The full implementation of Maintenance4000 will be the first time that Nugent Care’s numerous sites across the North West will work as a unified whole. Gilfoyle sees this as a very positive shift in terms of business management. He comments, “Our Merseyside base is Nugent Care’s head office. All the satellite establishments within the group currently stand alone. By managing everything centrally we hope to become much more efficient.”

As well as keeping on top of regular maintenance required by Health and Safety such as gas appliance checks, Maintenance4000 will also reduce reaction time to repairs and therefore reduce the time and costs associated with these repairs. “The system will manage all our facilities and we forecast plenty of long-term savings,” says Gilfoyle. “We’ll now be able to address maintenance work very quickly. By picking up repetitive and new jobs in all areas promptly, without letting them escalate into larger more complicated jobs through neglect, we’ll be saving time, labour and materials costs too.”
