Strong growth prompts expansion of Real Asset Management intermodal software team

On the back of another strong trading year in 2007, Real Asset Management Plc (RAM), the intermodal asset management software specialist, has announced further expansion of its UK development team to meet increased demand from both new and existing customers.  Alan Hathaway and Andrew Clifford joined the transport and logistics division of RAM during the third and final quarters of 2007.

Hathaway, an IT graduate, joins RAM from a London-based IT outsourcing organisation. He will work within the intermodal operator sector, focusing primarily on development projects. Clifford will also focus on IT support and bespoke development for the container leasing sector.

“The latest recruitment drive has been prompted by the recent acquisition of new clients, including Waterfront Container Leasing Co Ltd, Unitas Services Ltd and Beacon Intermodal Leasing,” said Craig Anthony, General Manager of RAM.  “This, coupled with high demand for development services from existing customers and some significant orders in the pipeline from major players in the intermodal sector, has confirmed the requirement to expand the team.

“The consultants within the RAM Transport & Logistics Division have over 60 years of experience between them,” continued Anthony.  “This knowledge is very hard to replicate within in-house IT departments and is probably a major reason why enquiries for the year-to-date have increased by over 86% on 2006,”

Anthony declared that RAM’s customer base has grown by over 15% in 2007, reflecting a high level of interest in both the Rental4000 and Monitor4000 products. Rental4000 is RAM’s specialist product for the leasing sector, while Monitor4000 serves the needs of container and intermodal operators.  “Over a third of our current customer base is now involved in active development projects with RAM, further confirming their commitment to our products,” he added.
New customers for 2007 included a number of companies who are members of the Container Owners Association (COA), the body representing the common interests of freight container owners.  Anthony said that a discount scheme launched by RAM for COA members in late 2006 has proved to be a great success, with two thirds of new customers in 2007 taking advantage of the offer.
